Summer Solstice 2025

What a delight it was to celebrate the Summer Solstice this year! After days of scorching heat, there was pleasant warmth and a cool and breezy evening.

We gathered at a private residence to honor the height of the sun with songs and a gorgeous communal meal along with a lovingly made lavender lemonade. With old bottles, hand picked flowers from backyards, and candles lining the table we feasted under the shade of trees and took our time to enjoy both food and company.

After dinner, we danced Små Grodorna around the Maypole and then Alisa taught us about English Morris dancing and Nourishing Kin’s own playful version of The Shepherd’s Hey, flicking our apricot bark dyed hankies in honor of the life-giving yellow of the summer sun. We wove colorful ribbons around the Maypole and then danced to a community curated playlist.

We transitioned inside for a candlelit table of cheese, crackers and German chocolate and cups of tea while everyone had a chance to share something they prepared: poems, songs, a community card pull, stories of nature, and tools for healing. We were filled with love, vulnerability and laughter to close the evening.

The best part of having a sleepover gathering was that we all got to wake up in the morning and share a sweet and savory breakfast alongside intentionally made seasonal teas and coffees. Channing led us in a beautiful Solstice meditation and we closed our time together in deep conversation with grateful hearts for the sun and each other.
