Spring Equinox 2025

The location was the star of this gathering! The beautiful space at Tracy Aviary’s Nature Center at Pia Okwai provided countless opportunities to engage with the beauty of the land and season. We gathered in the Bird Blind and spent the afternoon surrounded by the dances of birds and an unparalleled view of the nearby river.

Spring Equinox kicked off with a welcome and land acknowledgement. Immediately following, our gentle plant-loving community member Sarah shared her experience of connection with four different herbs. Everyone had an opportunity to learn about Holy Basil, Lemon Balm, Chamomile, and Calendula, plant their seeds, and prepare them to take home to nurture.

Once seeds were planted, we shared snacks and stories as we casually connected. We then engaged in a brief meditation to connect with the 2025 theme of “a year of offerings.” Afterwards, we stepped outside to explore the grounds of Pia Okwai and connect with the plant and animal kin present.

Our interactive discussion focused on sharing our direct experience with the land. Participants shared stories of profound connection, delight, and solutions for when land connection is difficult. The gathering closed with celebrating birthdays and singing Round and Round.
