Lughnasadh Gathering

from $0.00
Ticket Options:

Saturday, July 26

9:00 am - 1:30 pm *help cleaning up after would be appreciated, but not necessary

Heritage Park Amphitheater, Cedar Hills, UT

*This gathering is open to ages 13 and up

With the arrival of summer comes warmth and relaxation. The heat at the height of the season eases the heart, allowing us to fully open to the abundance of the land. This is the time of Lughnasadh (pronounced loo-na-suh), the second celebration of the summer, and the first of the ancestral harvest festivals.  In this season we welcome in the first harvest of the year - the wheat and grains. Lughnasadh allows us a moment to revel in the hazy, lazy motions of the season while enjoying freshly baked breads and the first of the summer produce. What’s not to love?

We hope you’ll join us in gathering to honor the turning of the wheel through an embodied-focused practice. We will gather outdoors in a lovely park to honor Land, Ancestors, and Community through the following activities:

  • small selection of seasonal songs to carry you through the season

  • engaging opportunities to create and sustain relationships with a local community of women + femmes united by shared values of reconnection, reciprocity, and respect

  • a guided embodied “Seasonal Check-In”

  • hand-crafting a traditional “Welsh Fan” using wheat stalks

  • learning a brief history of the Scottish practice of “waulking the wool,” alongside participating in the motions of it with songs in Scottish Gaelic

Additional details, including address, items to bring, and food suggestions, will be sent to registrants one week prior to the event. Helping to clean up the tables and chairs afterward would be helpful, but not necessary.
