Gathering Details
When dark and frost blanket the world, Imbolc acts as a welcome and encouragement of Light’s return. In this season, we select the small seeds of growth and change to nurture within, and look forward with anticipation to spring when they will begin to sprout. The contrast of light in the deepest part of winter brings hope in the darkness - brightness is not just on its way, but right around the corner!
We invite you to join us in celebrating this sacred time as our Northwestern European ancestors once did. During our Imbolc gathering, you will:
Connect in a cozy, private home with friendly, like-minded women and femmes
Learn and sing a Gaelic song dedicated to the Irish goddess-Saint Brigid, for whom Imbolc is observed
Discover the power and influence of your Nordic ancestresses as you immerse yourself in the concept of the “disir” and “disablot”
Delight in a shared warm meal of soup and bread - featuring a traditional Guinness beef stew!
Try your hand at crafting a Brigid’s Cross - a traditional weaving made of grass. In addition to the traditional plant material, this year we are offering a paper straw option for those who wish for a more playful and sensory-friendly experience
Create a “witch’s taper” ritual candle, made with ethically foraged mullein stalks, beeswax, and herbs
Participate in community fire ritual
Welcome the coming warmth with other women and femmes and take part in the radical act of communal and ancestral acknowledgement, connection, and repair. We hope to have you with us!
